Specifications and Geometry

We use high quality 4130 cromo standard sized tubes on all Allure Libre frames and forks. That means one inch top tubes! Fully brass brazed filled fillets! Brass brazed drop outs and silver brazed braze ons.

They are one inch threaded for quill stems with the option to have a 1in threadless steer for threadless stems.

They have 135mm rear spacing for standard cassette disk hubs. They're built for the 650b (584mm) wheel size, and will easily fit Compass Switchback Hill 48mm tires with fenders, while at the same time allow for low Q factor cranks!

Brake bosses are standard ISO disk brake mounts so that most common size rotors can be used. The rear disk brake mount is built into the Paragon Machine Works drop outs, while the front is a Paragon Machine Works “Willets” tab that we modify to work with our elegant proprietary low trail fork rake.

They all have a reinforced Dynamo wiring guide for a Dynamo taillight, with a hole in the bb shell for rear fender mount Dynamo taillight or optional special mount for the Rene Herse Tail light (*longer seat posts will need to be cut down to not hit the Rene Herse tailight braze on and wire.)

They are available in sizes, 50cm, 52cm, 54cm, 56cm, 58, 60cm and 62cm.

Tubes:

All Allure Libre frames are made with what we feel are the optimal 4130 cromo tubes.

Tubes are the classic “standard” size as follows: top tube is 8.5.8 in 1in. Down tube is 8.5.8 in 1 1/8th. The seat tube is also standard sized 1 1/8, but it’s .9.6 butted; the .9mm thickness is just for a few inches down at the bb shell for optimal strength and stiffness at this high stress area, and weighs less than a few grams more than a .8.5 tube (.6 is the correct thickness of all seat tubes that take a 27.2 seat post).

The chain and seat stays are Columbus Cromor .8mm wall. These are our favorite stays, and we use them for everything, super light and stiff where you really need a bike to be stiff in just the right ways and supple in the just the right ways.

The fork uses special 4130 Cromo rakeable disk fork blades, and 1in steer tube and the beautiful Pacenti “twin plate” fork crown.

Top tube: 25.4

Seat tube: 28.6 (for 27.2 seatpost).

Down tube: 28.6

Steer tube: 1 inch threaded (for standard 22.2 quill stem, and BSC standard threaded headsets). With option for 1 inch threadless steer tube for modern clamp on threadless stems (requires a 1in to 1 1/8 steer tube shim).

*You might have noticed that all these bikes are square, meaning that the top tube and the seat tube are the same length measured ctc, (center to center). Some people will think this is weird and think they want/like/need short top tubes and longer stem. We make these bikes to fit short stems for a reason and recommend a 60 to 90mm stem. Longer top tubes and shorter stems mean more room for the front load such as the handle bar bag. It's more important to keep the bag as close to the head tube and especially behind the front hub's center as possible. Much more important that the aesthetic desire to have a certain proportionate look to a stem length.
